GPS Photo Metadata Viewer

Check whether a JPEG photo contains GPS coordinates, capture time, and camera details. The selected photo is read locally in your browser and is not uploaded by this tool.

Choose a JPG or JPEG file to begin.

Privacy: This tool does not send your photo or its coordinates to NoteCam.

How to view GPS photo metadata

  1. Select a JPG or JPEG image.
  2. Choose Read photo details.
  3. Review the GPS, date, or camera fields found in its EXIF metadata.

GPS appears only when it was saved in the photo. A missing GPS value does not prove where an image was taken. Coordinates can be sensitive, so review them before sharing the original file.

Supported details and formats

This viewer reads common GPS coordinates, camera make and model, and capture time from JPEG EXIF metadata. It does not edit or remove metadata. It currently supports JPG and JPEG files, not HEIC, PNG, or video. For adding a visible location note, use the photo editor. For a new camera photo, visit GPS Map Camera.

Frequently asked questions

Does my photo leave the device?

No. The browser reads the selected file locally.

Why are GPS details missing?

The photo may not have embedded GPS tags. Some cameras do not record location, and editing or sharing apps may remove EXIF data.
